The Complete Biography of Dopekond: Melancholy, Music, and the Shattered Illusions of "End Eyes"

Introduction and Core Identity

Dopekond (born Mohamed Kandid on December 18, 2008, in Casablanca, Morocco) is a Moroccan independent singer, songwriter, and record producer. He stands out as one of the most enigmatic and deeply emotional voices emerging from the North African alternative and indie music scene. Blending elements of late-night R&B, dark synth-pop, cinematic lo-fi, and atmospheric electronic music, Dopekond has built a sonic universe that functions as an open diary for his personal trauma. While many artists use music as a form of entertainment, Mohamed uses it as a means of survival—a sonic canvas to process intense loneliness, heartbreak, and existential dread.

The Origin of the Sound (2017–2023)

Long before the heartbreak that would define his most famous works, Mohamed Kandid was a quiet observer of the world around him.

• Early Fascinations: He began experimenting with music production in 2017, when he was just nine years old. Fascinated by how digital software could replicate human emotions, he spent years teaching himself how to mix sounds, craft ambient textures, and program heavy, melancholic drum beats.

• The Bedroom Producer Era: Safe inside his bedroom in Casablanca, he retreated from the chaotic energy of the outside world. He began creating soundscapes that mirrored the cold, isolated feelings he experienced during his early teenage years. This period laid the groundwork for his unique production style: deep basslines, heavily reverberated vocals, and haunting synth chords that evoke the feeling of driving alone through a foggy city at 3:00 AM.

Rim: The Silent Love Story and the Great Betrayal (2024–2026)

The pivotal turning point in Dopekond’s life and artistic trajectory occurred when he was 15–16 years old. It is an experience that he describes as both his ultimate inspiration and his deepest psychological scar.

1. The Connection of Eyes (2024)

In 2024, Mohamed met a young girl named Rim. For Mohamed, it was an instant, overwhelming connection. At a time when he felt disconnected from school and his surroundings, Rim became his sole reason to wake up every morning. However, this love was completely unspoken. For one year and three months, the two shared an intense, daily routine of deep eye contact. Every day at school, they would look at each other, exchanging glances that, to Mohamed, carried the weight of a profound, unwritten romance. This period of silent infatuation became the happiest anchor in his teenage life.

2. The Courage and the Rejection (2026)

After hundreds of days of silent yearning, Mohamed finally gathered the emotional strength to break the silence. In 2026, he approached Rim to confess his true feelings, expecting that the fifteen months of constant, mutual eye contact meant they were on the same page. Instead, he was met with a devastating reality check. Rim did not just reject him; she brutally mocked him, laughed at his vulnerability, and belittled his emotions in front of others.

3. The Ghosting and Total Erasure

The cruelty did not stop at the initial rejection. Immediately following the incident, Rim completely cut him out of her life. She blocked him on all communication platforms and treated him like an absolute stranger in public. She acted as if those fifteen months of shared glances had never happened, rewriting their history to make him feel entirely invisible. This total erasure and cold betrayal shattered Mohamed's mental health, leaving him trapped in a cycle of severe loneliness and self-doubt.

The Sonic Catharsis: Transforming Pain into "End Eyes"

Devastated by the toxic end to his silent romance, Dopekond did not sink into total silence. Instead, he channeled his tears, anger, and grief straight into his laptop, resulting in his defining body of work: the EP/album project titled End Eyes.

The Meaning Behind the Title

The title End Eyes is a literal and metaphorical epitaph for his relationship with Rim. It marks "the death of the glances"—the final moment those eyes, which used to give him life, looked at him with cold indifference and mockery. It signifies the moment his illusions were permanently shattered.

Sonic Analysis of the Project

• Intro & Outro: These tracks serve as the emotional brackets of the project. They utilize heavily distorted vocal effects, ambient rain sounds, and slow-tempo chords to immerse the listener into his state of depression.

• Make Them Cry: This track acts as a direct response to his humiliation. Through slow, crushing R&B rhythms, Dopekond flips the script on his pain, using his music to make the world—and perhaps the person who hurt him—feel the weight of his raw, unfiltered tears.

• Darija: By incorporating elements of his Moroccan roots and local identity into an otherwise Western-influenced dark R&B style, he anchors his heartbreak in the real streets of Casablanca, making the pain feel incredibly raw, authentic, and close to home.

The Artistic Legacy of Dopekond

Today, Dopekond remains a deeply private and mysterious figure, rarely doing traditional interviews and letting his music speak entirely for itself. By laying bare his experiences with Rim, he has become a relatable figure for thousands of young listeners worldwide who have experienced the sting of unrequited love, public humiliation, and emotional abandonment. He continues to prove that while people can reject, mock, or cut you out, they can never erase the art that is born from the scars they left behind.
